A Testimony
about the Favor, Provision and Protection of God over our lives.
Do you need encouragement?
The purpose of this testimony is to encourage others who may feel that everything is going wrong and that you have nowhere to turn - to trust that our Father God is there for you.
All you have to do (as a born again believer) is pray for what you want help with and then trust in Him to undertake, no matter how bleak the circumstances seem at the time.
Before I begin the testimony, I will share a scripture that I believed covered us yesterday.
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous.
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
Psalm 5:12 NKJV
I’m a pretty literal and straightforward person.
I personalise all scriptures that the Lord gives me and apply them to my current circumstances. This is how I take the above scripture:
1. He blesses me, the righteous.
I am righteous since I am a born again believer established by Grace when I gave my heart to the Lord Jesus Christ.
This means that I was made righteous in God’s eyes.
And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction Romans 3:22 BSB
2. With favor the Lord surrounds me, as with a shield.
This means that as God's child, I am literally protected and surrounded by God’s divine favor.
When I envisage the shield, I don't think of something that only covers a small part of your body. I think of something like a force field that encompasses my entire being.
Testimony about 12 November 2021
Everyone has things that go wrong in their life. Some small things, some big things, but they all add up and sometimes we get to the point where we feel frustrated and helpless to resolve them.
I believe its at that point that people either give up or turn to God for help.
Bear in mind that Allan (my husband) had recently finished 6 months of Chemotherapy treatment - and was now scheduled to have the first follow up CT scan.
The scan was to be done at Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban on Friday, 12 November 2021.
Durban is two hours away from our residence in Margate, KZN, South Coast.
Allan is currently the only driver in our family, and it’s imperative that both our car and Allan are fit enough to drive on the scheduled date.
Here is a list of the bullets of favor God fired into our lives:
These things happened both during the previous week leading up to the 12 November, and on the 12 November 2021.
Bullet No 1 - Healing
Allan's back went out on the preceding Tuesday.
Allan has a long standing back condition; most of the time he is fine as long as he is careful not to pick up heavy objects or to bend incorrectly.
However, when his back goes out - provided we spring into action immediately - Allan is bedridden anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks.
If we are unable to action his treatment immediately (i.e. we are not at home when it flares up) then he can be bedridden and in extreme pain between 2 to 3 months.
Not to mention our weekly errands both for our normal living requirements and preparation of the trip. You can imagine our horror.
However, we prayed. We commanded the pain to leave and his body to heal, in Jesus name. We then applied wisdom and used the knowledge we had about how he must be treated.
By Thursday his back had improved enough that he could drive me around to run our weekly errands.
He wasn't out of the woods yet and had to be very careful, but we did what we had to do.
By Friday, his pain had improved to the point that he could drive to Durban for his appointment at the hospital.
When we returned home after the hospital visit, we immediately continued with the protocol that we know, to help his back rest and heal.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Matthew 10:8 NKJV
PRAISE GOD!
Bullet No 2 - Healing
I have been fighting a recurring kidney infection for the last 6 months.
I am currently working with a Doctor to find out why it keeps returning.
The point is, when it hits, I am in extreme pain, weak and exhausted. It had flared up the previous week, also putting pressure on us for the upcoming long trip.
This was very serious because I am the only person in my family who can do any physical work or tasks.
Mom and Allan rely on me to go shopping, do most household cleaning chores, heavy lifting such as when we fill up the bottles with clean water for drinking, walking up and down 6 flights of stairs for various tasks when we have no power, packing and unpacking the car for various trips and so much more.
I'm an essential worker!
However, we prayed. We
commanded the pain and infection to leave me and commanded my body to heal, in
Jesus name. We then applied wisdom and used the knowledge we had about
diet and treatment.
By Thursday, the pain had disappeared from my body and my energy began to return. I was able to run all errands and prepare for the trip. On Friday I was fully healed.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Matthew 10:8 NKJV
PRAISE GOD!
Bullet No 3 - Protection and Provision
On Thursday we began experiencing serious problems with our vehicle.
This is not a new issue, but we thought we had it under control.
On Thursday the power steering became exponentially harder for Allan to maneuver.
It was very difficult for him to turn the steering wheel even when the car was in motion, and the car made loud scraping metallic noises.
We had paid out a lot of money to have this fixed a few weeks back, although the mechanic did warn us it was temporary.
We even had the garage attendant check the power steering oil, but he said it was full. Which was puzzling.
So we prayed that the car would get us to Durban and back safely.
During the journey, I was communicating with my sister in Durban via WhatsApp, sharing with her what had happened to us.
My father-in-law, (who lives with my sister) is a transmission engineer; he decided to take our vehicle to his workshop and have a look at it, while we were going through the process in the hospital.
My sister drove to the hospital, and despite Covid restrictions they allowed her in to fetch the car keys from us.Once we were finished with the hospital, my sister picked us up and took us to her home for lunch!
When we arrived at her home, we met our father-in-law who explained that if we had driven the car home in the condition it was ... half way home somewhere on the road ... the power steering would have seized, the wheel would have locked and we could have had a fatal accident.Out of the goodness of his heart and love and concern for us, he insisted on keeping the vehicle and fixing it up at his own cost!
We were flabbergasted, touched and deeply grateful as we know that he is currently not in a good financial position - and neither is he in good health ... but he was determined.
My sister and her husband drove us back to Margate, helped us offload all our travel bags and settled us at home, then drove all the way back to Durban.
They did not realize it, but my family was operating under this part of God's Word:
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10 ESV
My sister, her husband and our father-in-law were the instruments to bring God's favor into our lives in this situation.
PRAISE GOD!
Bullet No 4 - Provision and Restoring what was Lost
Lost or Stolen 1/3 of our weekly groceries.
Yes, on Thursday when Allan was gingerly driving me around, I went shopping and in my hurry to get home left a packet of food in the shopping trolley, in the parking area outside the shopping center.
I discovered the grocery bag was missing when I got home. I did call the shop but they have not found it yet.
I knew we did not have the budget to replace them. Even if we had, Allan needed to rest so that his back would be okay for the next day's drive to Durban. So I prayed and asked the Lord to return what was lost or stolen. Then I deliberately put it out of my mind as I had to prepare for the long trip the next day.
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. Phillipians 4:6 AMP
The next morning on the way to Durban my sister discussed it with her husband and our father-in-law, and they decided to replace what we had lost!
Not only that, they added more groceries in the bag!
When they brought us home on Friday they also brought the grocery bag with them.
PRAISE GOD!
There are so many little and large miracles that God has performed for us every day, not only on the 12 November 2021.
There are things that I could not have engineered, done or even imagine that God does for us.
I want to give thanks, praise and honor to Him by sharing this song with you:
I hope you enjoyed this testimony. Please feel free to share it with anyone.
